In addition to the Pinè Plateau, some JWOC and 5 DAYS OF ITALY races take place in the woods and villages of Valsugana.
Straddling the Dolomites and Lake Garda, framed by fascinating landscape views, lies the Valsugana area, a small natural oasis just a few steps from Trento. A hospitable valley with an ancient tourist tradition thanks to its ferruginous arsenical waters known already in the 16th century. Tourism and spa tourism have always represented an inseparable combination for Valsugana and its territory, crowned by the imposing Lagorai chain and the The Vezzena plateau and lapped by the crystal clear waters of the Caldonazzo and Levico lakes.
When you reach Valsugana by car you can’t help but notice them, hidden by the branches of the trees. Two mirrors of clear water, surrounded by woods, that just looking at them makes you want to park and go for a swim. The two lakes of Caldonazzo and Levico, both with the “Blue Flag” recognition for the quality of the water and infrastructure, are the point of reference for those looking for a fresh holiday of sport and relaxation outdoors.
The woods that surround them protect you from the sultry summer heat, while the clean waters are perfect for practicing many water sports. Most athletes choose the large Caldonazzo lake to practice SUP and canoeing, but many also choose it for windsurfing and sailing, or to go for a swim and lie on the lawn to sunbathe. Lake Levico, on the other hand, framed by green hills covered in woods, is ideal for family relaxation as well as for sports, thanks to campsites tailored for the little ones.
Next to Lake Caldonazzo passes the Valsugana cycle path, a track of over 50 km that winds along the course of the Brenta river, on a flat route also suitable for less experienced cyclists. Along the way you can stop for a break at the bicigrills in Levico Terme, Tezze, Castelnuovo and Novaledo: refreshment points suitable for cyclists.
In the evening you can relax with an aperitif in one of the rooms overlooking the two lakes.
Our advice is also to take a couple of hours to visit ArteSella, an outdoor contemporary art gallery, where works of art blend with the natural environment creating man-made and modeled masterpieces from nature.
